The Salmon River Art Guild’s fall show takes place every October in Riggins, Idaho. It is their premier juried art show of the year. Fine art consisting of Oil, pastel and watercolor paintings, pen and ink or pencil drawings, multi-media art, photography, sculpture and mulit-media pieces are showcased and judged by an accomplished artist. This year there were 37 pieces entered in the photography category, which seemed to be greater than in previous years. There were a number of really impressive photographs on display. I would not have wanted to be the judge of this show for the decision to choose the top piece would have been a challenging choice. I entered 5 matted and framed pieces into the show. Realities Merging, a black and white image of Mt. Hood located in Oregon was chosen for First Place Photography Landscape and also received the coveted Opal Carlson Landscape Award. Heaven or Hell, an image of Hell’s Canyon, and Apocalypse, an image of billowing smoke from a forest fire both received Honorable Mention.
